See how the right Forex reviews can help you master the currency markets! The mere expectation or rumor of a central bank foreign exchange intervention might be enough to stabilize a currency. However, aggressive intervention might be used several times each year in countries with a dirty float currency regime. Central banks do not always achieve their objectives. The combined resources of the market can easily overwhelm any central bank. 67 Several scenarios of this nature were seen in the 1992-93 European Exchange Rate Mechanism collapse, and in more recent times in Asia.

FX transactions worth trillions of dollarstakeplace every day, andunlike stocks or commoditiesthere's no central exchange. Instead, currencies are traded by a global network of banks, dealers and brokers, which means you can trade any time, day or night, Monday to Friday.

Political instability and poor economic performance can also have a negative impact on a currency. Politically stable countries with robust economic performance will always be more appealing to foreign investors, so these countries will draw investment away from countries characterised by more economic or political risk. Furthermore, a country showing a sharp decline in economic performance will experience a loss of confidence in its currency and a movement of capital to currencies of more economically steady countries. These are just two simple examples of what can affect foreign exchange rates and the kind of things traders consider when developing forex trading strategies.

The advent of the internet has given rise to online Forex Brokers which are similar to an online stock trading account. These brokers have thousands of investors placing orders through their online portals and so are able to allow anyone to open a Forex account and buy and sell in any quantity.

Not placing the stop/loss point in the right position- It is not enough to have a stop/loss point in place. You have to know about where to put it so that if the market whip saws, your position isn't closed automatically. A lot of traders accuse the powers to be of messing with this and actually causing whip saws to happen to knock out these positions. The amount of leverage really comes into play here. If you can't afford to place a stop/loss in the 25+ pips range, then you should reduce your leverage to make it happen. I can't say how often I have seen my position get closed because my stop loss point was set too low only to watch it rise past the number and into the areas I thought it would rise.
